GRANDVIEW, Wash. — School officials have suspended a 28-year-old volunteer high school basketball coach who was arrested on suspicion of sexual misconduct with a minor.

The man, a Grandview resident, was arrested late last week and released on bail. He has not been charged.

Grandview School District officials learned about the allegations Feb. 19 and suspended the unpaid coach Feb. 20 pending the outcome of the investigation, Superintendent Kevin Chase said in a news release issued Tuesday.

The man was an assistant boys basketball coach at Grandview High School for four of the past five seasons, Chase said. His name is not being reported by the Yakima Herald-Republic because he has not been charged with a crime by prosecutors.

Police alleged the incidents that led to the man’s arrest occurred between October 2011 and January 2012 and involved more than one female victim.

Police said their investigation began Jan. 11 and that the suspect was arrested without incident at noon Friday at the police station.
