GRANDVIEW — A 19-year-old woman was injured Monday night when someone in a car pulled up next to her and her boyfriend and opened fire.

Police believe the shooting to be gang-related, though the victim is not a known gang member.

The woman was walking with her boyfriend just before 11 p.m. on Grandridge Road when a car stopped and one of the occupants started firing. She was struck while running for cover, Grandview police reported.

Police had received several calls about gunshots in the area before arriving and finding the woman. Her injuries were not life-threatening, the police report said, but she was taken to the hospital. No additional information was available.

Anyone with knowledge of the shooting is asked to call the Grandview Police Department at 509-882-2000.
