Central Washington junior Mark McLaughlin was named Friday to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division II West all-district second team.
A 6-foot-6 guard who transferred last year from Washington, McLaughlin was the leading scorer for both the Wildcats and the GNAC at 22.8 points per game. His scoring average was second in CWU history only to the 26.4 of Selah’s Ryan Pepper during the 1994-95 season.
McLaughlin also shot .813 from the foul line to set a single-season school record with 183 made free throws.
He had already been named to the all-GNAC first team as well as the Daktronics D-II West Region second team.
Three GNAC players — Western Washington’s John Allen and Paul Jones and Seattle Pacific’s David Downs — were named to the all-district first team while SPU’s Jobi Wall joined McLaughlin on the second team.
