Mabton’s Trishi Williams recorded a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds Saturday night as Western Washington pulled away from Academy of Art for a 70-50 victory in the NCAA Division II West Region tournament in Bellingham.
The victory was Western’s ninth straight and advanced the nationally fifth-ranked Vikings (26-3) into a semifinal at 5 p.m. Monday against Cal State Monterrey Bay.
Williams, a 5-foot-9 senior who played two seasons at Columbia Basin College before moving to Western, also led the Vikings with six assists and added three steals.
WWU center Britt Harris had 15 points and 10 boards as all five Viking starters scored in double figures. Western trailed 27-24 at intermission, but staged a 12-0 run to start the second half.
The Urban Knights of San Francisco finished their season with a 23-9 record.
