YAKIMA, Wash. In today’s segment of Open Mike, reporter Dan Catchpole discusses with host Mike Faulk how the city of Yakima will address its failing road system after the City Council approved a ballot measure for construction funding Tuesday night.
After years of neglect, Yakima needs at least $20 million to make a substantial dent in its backlog of road projects. At least 3 percent of city streets are considered failing, but without significant work city staff expects that to reach 23 percent by 2020.
