The story just keeps getting better.

Trishi Williams, the Western Washington women’s basketball standout from Mabton, has been named the GNAC player of the week after recording the third triple-double in school history.

A 5-foot-9 senior who played her first two collegiate seasons at Columbia Basin, Williams produced 11 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds in an 83-72 homecourt win Saturday night over Alaska Anchorage. It was Western’s first triple-double since the 1994-95 season.

In two Vikings victories last week, Williams totaled 26 points, 15 boards and 13 assists. For the season she’s averaging 11.2 points and 5.7 rebounds, both second on the team, and is Western’s leader in assists (4.5) and steals (2.6).

Among conference leaders, Williams is second in steals, third in field goal accuracy (51.2 percent) and fifth in assists.

Western, ranked fifth nationally, has won 11 straight games and is 17-2 overall.
