Rough finishes in their respective crossover tournaments last weekend dropped Yakima Valley’s basketball teams in their respective NWAACC polls, which were released Thursday.

The Yaks men, ranked first in the initial coaches poll, dropped out of the top eight and were among teams receiving votes after falling to top-ranked Lane and later Everett in the Green River tournament. YVCC is 6-3 going into Thursday’s homecourt meeting with No. 5 Bellevue (7-3).

YVCC’s women, who were second in the first poll, slipped to eighth. They absorbed a 30-point loss to No. 1 Lane in the Titans’ tourney.

Rankings are as follows — Men: 1, Lane (11-2); 2, Whatcom (7-3); 3, Edmonds (8-1); 4, Pierce (8-3); 5, Bellevue (7-3); 6, Big Bend (8-3); 7, Peninsula (6-3); 8, Tacoma (4-2). Also receiving votes: Yakima Valley (6-3), Green River, Everett, Spokane, Treasure Valley.

Women: 1, Lane (11-0); 2, Walla Walla (10-1); 3, Clackamas (9-5); 4, Big Bend (9-1); 5, Skagit Valley (6-3); 6, Centralia (5-2); 7, Umpqua (9-3); 8, Yakima Valley (6-4). Also receiving votes: Spokane, Everett, Wenatchee Valley, Whatcom, Peninsula, Bellevue.
